Wicker named All-County Offensive Player of the Year

As he prepares for a photo shoot, White House High senior Grant Wicker puts on a No. 9 Blue Devil jersey tattered and torn from the pounding he took on the football field. The jersey was only worn for three games.

“I went through a lot of cleats and jerseys,” said Wicker. “They took a beating.” Wicker certainly took a beating – and came out standing tall as he led White House to the Class 4A state quarterfinals. He rushed for 1,984 yards and 18 touchdowns en route to being named Offensive Most Valuable Player on the 2012 All-County Football Team. He accounted for 75 percent of the team’s rushing yards and more than 60 percent of the team’s total carries.
