College Updates: Former Devils in week one

Updating the results of college football players from White House High School on Saturday, August 31, 2013:

  • Tennessee 45, Austin Peay State 0. The Governors, featuring kicker Chase Dunlap and lineman Zack Escue, lost their season opener in Knoxville to the Vols.
  • William Penn 34, Bethel 8. The Bethel (TN) Wildcats, ranked No. 9 heading into Saturday’s opening weekend, dropped a big upset at home to William Penn. Offensive lineman Jarrison English is a freshman.
  • Anderson University (IN) was off this weekend and opens the season next Saturday on the road against Taylor University with freshman fullback Ethan Hoffman.
  • Tennessee Tech 63, Cumberland 7. The Golden Eagles opened the season with a powerful effort against visiting Cumberland on Thursday, rolling to a 63-7 win. Freshman Grant Wicker is a preferred walk-on tailback.
  • Marian (IN) 23, Kentucky Christian 0. Micah Kelly is a freshman offensive lineman but his new team opened with a shutout loss on the road.
