The schedule for the 2014 Robertson County Jamboree has been officially announced with seven games of action that includes appearances by all five Robertson County Schools and White House High School on Friday, August 15.

“We like to have the jamboree on a Friday night to really get the feeling of a Friday night football game for every team before the season starts,” East Robertson representatives said. “This is the biggest jamboree in the state with 14 teams participating and we hope to put on a great show for everyone in attendance.”

The Robertson County Jamboree, held again at East Robertson High School, allows for every game to be a single half of action with many team playing starters in the first quarter of action and bringing in reserves in the second quarter.

In the opening game of the night, Robertson County programs East Robertson Indians and White House Heritage Patriots get the night started. White House Heritage dominated the jamboree matchup in 2013 with a decisive 21-0 win over the Indians. Heritage and East Robertson are former district mates until 2013 when the Patriots were moved up to Class 3A football due to a higher enrollment.

The second game of the night will see Robertson County stalwart Jo Byrns Red Devils again play up in classification versus the Class 4A Sycamore War Eagles. Sycamore is a part of District 9-AA that also includes local programs Greenbrier, White House and Heritage but struggled in 2013 to a 2-8 record. Jo Byrns is coming off of a nine consecutive Class 1A playoff appearances.

In the third game, Robertson County program Greenbrier Bobcats face off versus private school Donelson Christian Academy Wildcats. The Bobcats are looking to right the ship after a disappointing end to their 2013 football season. Greenbrier had a dominant performance in last season’s jamboree with a 34-12 win over the West Creek Coyotes. DCA is a new arrival to the jamboree and come off of a 10-3 season that ended in the semi-finals of the Division II-A playoffs. The Wildcats also open the regular season versus East Robertson the following week.

Set up for the primetime 7:30 p.m. slot, the White House Blue Devils and Fairview Yellow Jackets square off in a rematch of last season’s 7-7 jamboree tie. The Blue Devils are looking to expand on a 10-3 season in 2013 that included a trip to the Class 4A quarterfinals. Fairview ended the 2013 season at 11-2 with a tough loss in the quarterfinals to eventual Class 3A runners-up CPA. Fairview will open their regular season versus fellow Robertson County Jamboree participant Cheatham County.

Scheduled to start at 8:15 p.m., the Houston County Fighting Irish and Cheatham County Cubs match up for two quarters of action. The Fighting Irish are part of District 10-A, the same district as East Robertson and Jo Byrns, and are looking to rebound from a poor 2013 season that them go 2-8 after making the playoffs in 2012. Cheatham County, part of District 9-AA along with Greenbrier, White House and Heritage, also struggled in 2013 with a 3-7 record after going 12-1 in 2012.

In the sixth game of the night, two new teams enter the jamboree with the Clarksville Academy Cougars facing off versus the Ezell Harding Eagles. The Eagles are looking to end 2014 season with a winning record for the first time since 2005, when they finished 8-4 on the season. Clarksville Academy is coming off of a 6-5 season in 2013 and look to extend their season to the second round of the Class 1A playoffs for the first time since 2011.

In the final game of the night, the Springfield Yellow Jackets again match up with Sumner County rivals Hendersonville Commnados. This is a rematch of the 2013 jamboree where Hendersonville defeated the Yellow Jackets 14-7 in an exciting matchup. Hendersonville is looking to repeat the magic of 2013 that saw them go 11-4 and make a run to the Class 6A championship game before falling to the Maryville Rebels. Springfield is looking to make their first playoff appearance under coach Dustin Wilson in one of the toughest districts in all of Tennessee high school football.
