White House Middle School teacher Cory Willoughby will make the short drive after school each day to the White House High School practice field where he will be one of three new assistant coaches in 2015 for the varsity Blue Devils.
Willoughby coached for two years at WHMS and teaches seventh grade world history. He is a former standout high school lineman at Gallatin High School and played four years at Cumberland University, where he graduated with a bachelor of science in history and geography in 2014 and a Masters of Education in 2014.
As a Green Wave athlete, he was all-region and all-county and a senior captain, and won the offensive line award his junior and senior season. One of his high school coaches was Mike Settle, who is now the new defensive coordinator at White House.
Willoughby learned of the position at White House Middle School while attending the wedding of a few a few years ago, and married his wife Lindsey, who is from White House. They have been married for two years and have a two-month old son. John Michael.
With three new coaching positions at WHHS, Willoughby decided to remain at White House Middle to teach but will coach exclusively at the high school. He will coach the offensive and defensive lines and assist with the equipment operations of the Blue Devils.
