One of the three new additions to the White House coaching staff in 2015 is now entering his 38th year of coaching and will immediately become the most experienced coach at White House High School.
Mike Settle, who spent 10 years at Gallatin High School as both the linebackers coach and then defensive coordinator, joins the Blue Devils this fall as the new defensive coordinator, replacing the departed Chad Broadrick. The former DC is now the head coach at East Robertson.
Settle played high school football as an offensive guard and linebacker at DuPont High School in Nashville then walked on at Tennessee Tech including a 1975 OVC Championship season, before becoming a high school football assistant. He has also served as the head coach at Coffee County High School in Manchester and Davidson Academy for a total of 10 years between the two.
Settle will teach strength and conditioning at WHHS and lead the weight program for the football team in addition to his on-field responsibilities. He is a tremendous asset on and off the field, and his character and integrity has earned him an award two years ago with the Northern Middle Tennessee Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
He has a bachelor of science in physical education and a Masters of Health and Education from Tennessee Technological University. He and his wife, Lana, have been married for 36 years and have two children. Lindy Cunningham, an educational psychologist, and her husband Chad have a little boy named Beren, which is the Settle’s only grandchild. Their son Mark Settle is a graduate of Virginia Tech and a combat veteran with three tours combined in Iraq and Afghanistan and just recently completed his military career with the United States Army and moved to Nashville.
Settle began his coaching career in Georgia for one year before marrying Lana, and has served at Gallatin, Coffee County, Davidson Academy and East Robertson in various roles.
