The annual Robertson County Jamboree is Friday, August 11th at East Robertson High School in Cross Plains. The high school is located at 158 Kilgore Trace and the football stadium is behind the school.
(Full Schedule below)
Fans will get a first look at White House High School under the lights for Friday night when the Blue Devils finish the jamboree against former region opponent, the Cheatham County Central Cubs. It will be the final contest of the event, which features six matchups and 12 teams from northern Middle Tennessee. Teams represented from Robertson and Sumner County include White House, White House Heritage, Greenbrier, Springfield, Hendersonville, Jo Byrns and jamboree host East Robertson. White House has four regular season opponents in 2017 who will play Friday night (ER, Springfield, Greenbrier, Heritage).
White House is scheduled for kickoff at 8:45 p.m. but the official start time is dependent on the finish time of the other games. Fans should arrive early as parking is limited and all 12 high schools will be sharing the space.
White House last played Cheatham County in 2014 when the Blue Devils blasted the Cubs, 56-7, on senior night. But the Cubs are coming off a 5-6 season, with wins over Jo Byrns, Sycamore, Creekwood, Stewart County and Camden before a 42-6 loss to Stratford in the first round of the Class 3-A state playoffs. The Cubs have two straight playoff seasons after a 3-8 campaign in 2015 ended with a first-round loss to CPA.
For White House, the story is an unfamiliar one. The Blue Devils are reeling from a 13-game losing streak dating back to October 2, 2015, when White House beat Macon County, 30-15. A perennial playoff team, White House is 4-16 the last two years after an impressive and school-record five consecutive trips to the Class 4-A Quarterfinals from 2010-2014.
The Blue Devils are still in Region 5-4A for 2017, but the opponents have changed slightly featuring Springfield, Portland, White House Heritage, Greenbrier, Creek Wood and Montgomery Central.
White House will open the regular season officially on Friday, Aug. 18th, against jamboree host East Robertson at Dewey H. Whitson Stadium in White House. The regular season kickoff on Aug. 18th is 7:30 p.m.
Jamboree action is sanctioned by the TSSAA and played with uniforms and officials, but the shortened action is exhibition and does not count toward season standings or playoff seeding.
Story update: Admission price will be updated to this story on Monday.
