White House — The White House Lady Devils are one win away from the Class AA soccer tournament, and have a chance to complete the goal Saturday night at home.
After starting the season 1-4-1 against tough competition, White House got hot and the Lady Devils haven’t slowed up, winning nine games in a row and unbeaten in their last 15 contests. White House won its eighth consecutive District 9-AA championship with a 2-1 win over Beech, then knocked off MLK and Beech again in the Region 5-AA championship.
White House hosts Giles County in the Class AA sectional at 6:30 p.m. at the White House soccer complex located behind the freshman annex at WHHS on Meadows Lane. The soccer field is located between the band practice field and the baseball complex.
The Class AA state tournament begins next week and will feature the top 8 teams from the state who win sectional matches tonight. In the opposite sectional bracket from White House, Beech is still alive, but will have to upset Region 6-AA champion Page. The Lady Patriots beat Giles County, sending GCHS to White House for the sectional final.
White House is 2-0-1 against Beech this season with a regular season tie, and two 2-1 victories in the postseason.
Giles County (14-5-2) was the District 11-AA runner up, and has won 9 of its last 12 matches. Unfortunately, all three losses were to Page, once in the regular season and then once each in the district and region tournament by a combined score of 9-0.
Giles County averages 3.83 goals per game and has given up 2.84.
White House (13-4-3) averages 4.9 goals per game and has allowed 1.9 goals per game. However, the Lady Devils have not allowed over two goals in a game since a 3-3 tie with Beech on Sept. 26th.
The game kicks off a 6:30 p.m. and White House fans are asked to wear blue.
Go Lady Devils! #bdp
