White House Blue Devils senior defensive end Tyler McMurtry completed his career at WHHS in 2017 as the single-season sack record holder with 9.5. He led the Devils in five defensive categories.
He is planning to attend and has been accepted to Western Kentucky University to continue his academic career after graduation at White House in May, 2018.
McMurtry led the team with five postseason team honors including TSWA All-State, TACA All-State, Tennessean All-Midstate, Main Street Media All-County and All-Region 5-4A.
He was the 2017 Sumner County Defensive Lineman of the Year, the Region 5-4A Defensive Most Valuable Player, and the Defensive Line Award Winner as voted by his high school teammates.
He led the team with 119 tackles, 34 tackles for losses, 9.5 sacks, 4 fumbles caused and 20 quarterback hurries. He ended his career with 196 tackles, 37 tackles for losses and is second all-time career with 14.0 sacks. He played two seasons as a starter at defensive end.
