Golf: White House sweeps Both Matches Thursday

Playing in a bigger division and district with larger teams in the TSSAA, and in a city without a golf course to call home, the challenge is big for the White House golf team each year.

But the squad coached by Cindy Towers reached a huge milestone on Thursday, sweeping a match against Springfield and Westmoreland on both the girls and boys side. It’s the first time in several years this has been a success for both teams on the same day.

White House girls won by two strokes over Springfield at Country Hills Golf Course, with the top two golfers combining for a 111. Springfield shot a 113. Madison Briggs had the best round at 47, followed by Kelsey Nokes with 64. Mila Headrick is also part of the team at White House, but the Springfield match featured just two opponents on the girls side. Katy Brown and Ragan Fisher shot a 51 and 62, respectively.

White House boys won by five strokes over Springfield, and Westmoreland did not have enough to qualify. White House got a 44 from Jacob Jenkins, a 50 from Riley Keller, 48 by Eli Holsberry, 50 by Charlie Hatch and John Wilson and Rylan Coddington also competed.

Springfield was led by Chandler Bell with 37, Garrett Smith 49, Garrett Reeves 54 and Mason Dorris 57. The Blue Devils won the match 192-197.

Westmoreland got a 60 and 66 from Emmitt Adcock and Wade Wells.

The White House golf team is coached by Cindy Towers and plays home matches at Country Hills Golf Course in Hendersonville.
