Soccer: Potts gets Hat Trick Plus One in Rout of Springfield

By Kris Freeman for White House High School

SPRINGFIELD – To say the start of the season for the White House Blue Devils has been a little electrifying and washed out is an understatement.

Four matches in, White House got its first victory of the year with a 10-0 rout of Springfield at Travis Price Park, in a match called off at halftime. Until tonight, White House had played in bad weather, and suffered losses to Beech and Sycamore, and a tie with Independence. Two of those matches were shortened by lightning.

Tuesday was time to turn the page and the Lady Devils did so with authority.

Sophomore Morgan Potts scored four goals in the victory as White House dominated the offensive end of the field and senior Ashleigh Spurlock had a goal and four assists.

Eden Bradley connected in the net twice, and senior Kaitlyn Stanfield scored once with Sydney Richardson and Carmen Perkins adding the other goals.

Sophomore keeper Jordan Turner got the shutout.

White House returns home Thursday to play Portland at 6 p.m. at the White House High School soccer complex.
