Cross Country: White House and Heritage Split Rival Race

WHITE HOUSE – It was not just another practice run on the White House Greenway for the Blue Devils and Patriots on Tuesday afternoon.

The two cross country teams split an in-town rival race on the greenway, with the White House girls and the Heritage boys winning the meet. The Heritage boys won 26-29, and the White House girls won 26-30. Scores are calculated with the five lowest runners combined place for each team and the lowest team score wins.

White House individual runners Cason Cooper (senior) and Kerra Marsh (junior) were the top individual runners.

Cooper’s individual time was a season best 17:03 on the 5K course, finishing five seconds ahead of the Patriots’ Sam Eden at 17:08. Lucas Taylor (Heritage) was third at 17:55, then Cooper Brinn (WH) was fourth at 18:44. Zack Gilley (Heritage) ended the race fifth at 18:46 and teammate Nik Taylor was sixth at 18:51.

White House teammates Jackson Bryan and Chase Singleton came in at 18:54 and 19:36, respectively, then Alex Taylor, Jude Abernathy and Maxwell Forsetheth ran a 19:47, 21:18 and 21:20.

The Blue Devils’ Logan Chudzik hit the mark at 21:30, then Patriots runners Thomas Ivey, Wyatt Claiborne and Ian Collet finished 21:36, 21:55, and 22:09. The closest race to the finish was for 17th when Femi Richards (White House) bested Hayden Padgett (Heritage) down the stretch by one second at 23:18-23:19. Jackson Russell, running in only his second race, finished at 32:23.

Marsh ended the race at 21:33, then Heritage’s Abby Page was second at 22:32. Hannah Barnes (White House) was third at 22:58, then Taylor Riebli (Heritage) was fourth at 23:15 and Kailey Frank (Heritage) fifth with 23:18.

Emily Tiepelman and Caitlin Hicks of White House were next at 23:33 and 23:59, then Heritage’s Lacey Riebli was 24:54. Ashtine Hooper (White House) finished 25:38 and Ellie Essary (White House) had a 25:42. Heritage had the final three spots with Erika Buckett, Heidi Terral and Lily Bloodworth at 26:23, 29:16 and 29:58.

The teams combined for 25 personal best times, with Heritage posting 15 personal bests and White House 10.
