Middle School: McDonald Named Coach of the Year for All-County

White House Middle School football announced Saturday the naming of Shane McDonald as the Sumner County Coach of the Year for middle school football.

McDonald led the Blue Devils to a stellar campaign in his first season as head coach, and he was awarded Saturday at the Sumner County Middle School Football Championship Game.

Nine players from White House Middle School were also named to the 2020 All-County Middle School Football Team: Michael Albin, Isaiah McGill, Parker Vaughn, Peyton Vaughn, Kenny Holt, Brayden Rosenbarker, Luke Richards, Jaxon Roark, and Dylan Riggins.

White House finished the season 5-1 with a win this week over Station Camp to close the year. The county championship went to Knox Doss at Drakes Creek, who defeated Rucker-Stewart, 22-16. The only loss for the Blue Devils this season was to Knox Doss.

McDonald, a former assistant coach under Brian Wise, is also a former White House High School graduate in 2005, and member of the 2004 Class 4-A semifinal football team which had an undefeated regular season, and finished 13-1.
