WHITE HOUSE – The Springfield Lady Yellow Jackets advanced to the District 11-AA semifinals with a straight-set win over Greenbrier in the quarterfinals of the district tournament at Jeff Bennett Gymnasium at White House High School.
The higher-seed Jackets stung the Bobcats with a dominating first and second set, winning 25-17 and 25-13, but Greenbrier fought back for a competitive third set before falling 25-23. The loss eliminated the Lady Bobcats from postseason play.
Springfield moves on to play regular season and defending tournament champion Portland at 4 p.m. on Thursday. The Lady Panthers are coming off three straight trips to the state finals, winning the championship in 2017-18 and finishing second in the Class AA state final last year. Portland received a bye in the first round.
Greenbrier had two members recognized as part of the All-District 11-AA Team. Junior Ashley Marshall (#12) and Co-Coach of the Year Tori Sherer.
