PORTLAND – Last year in the District 9-AA semifinals at White House, the Lady Devils took double overtime to defeat and eliminate Macon County. This year at Portland, White House wasted little time.

With three goals from sophomore Carmen Perkins for the hat trick, and a solo goal by four other teammates, White House routed the Tigers 7-1 in the semifinals of the District 9-AA Tournament at Portland High School. With White House Heritage eliminating Portland 1-0 in the match before, that setup a rematch of the Devils and Patriots on Thursday for the district championship.

No matter what happens Thursday, White House has earned a Region 5-AA Tournament berth.

Perkins put the Devils on the board first at 28:17 in the opening half, then at 24:53, senior Ashleigh Spurlock scored to make it 2-0.

Sophomore McKenna Potts scored her first goal of the season with 19:15 remaining in the first half to give White House a 3-0 lead, then her twin sister Morgan added a net opportunity at 11:59, and White House took a 4-0 lead into halftime.

With keeper Jordan Turner tossing a shutout, the Lady Devils poured it on even in the early part of the second when the younger Lady Devils saw the field.

Senior teammates Spurlock and Kaitlyn Stanfield worked together for the 5-0 margin, as Spurlock drove deep into the right corner and crossed to the center of the goal box, where Stanfield bounced the pass of her shoulders and chest and turned to fire the shot into the goal with a spin to the right with 28:34 remaining in the game.

Perkins got the hat trick goal with scores at 23:03 and 11:54 of the second, for the 7-0 lead, but Macon County broke the shutout with a bounce over the keeper at 3:46.

White House outscored Macon County 12-1 in two meetings this season.
