WHITE HOUSE – With the ever-changing high school basketball schedule, the White House Lady Devils took advantage of an open Friday afternoon on the last day of school to welcome Christian Community School for a 2 p.m. tipoff, beating the Colts 56-21.
The Devils swarmed the Colts in the first quarter with full-court defensive pressure, scoring a season-high 31 points in eight minutes to give them a 25-point lead at the end of the first. Junior Chloe Hart was the beneficiary of playing at the top of the zone and getting the feed from the turnover, and she topped off all scorers with 14 points, coming all within the first four minutes of the game.
White House used its entire bench on Friday and slowed down the press, scoring just 25 points over the final three quarters for the 35-point victory.
Sophomore Kayden Albin came off the bench to nail a couple of threes and also scored twice at the line for a career high eight points.
Freshman post starter Marley Hyde added eight points, followed by starting sophomore guard Avery Droz with six and junior Hannah Crabtree also scored six.
Faithe Johnstone had four, Abigail Bradley and Leigh Ann Sanders three, and Carmen Perkins and Cori Terrell two. Madison Freeman, Emily Seavers, Alexis Bess, Hannah France and Sydney Richardson all played significant minutes but did not score.
White House improved to 4-4 (1-1) for the season and will host the Colts again Tuesday at 5 p.m. The junior varsity teams will play at 3:30 p.m.
Senior guard Breanna Pugh scored five, junior forward Kennedy Osborne scored four points and junior post Makayla Pinkermann scored four points. Madeline Rigsby added two, Kailey Wright had two, Olivia Brentlinger hit a three, and Emily McClain scored one at the line.
