By Kris Freeman for White House High School

White House sophomore Tyler Hammond qualified for his second consecutive state tournament on Saturday, finishing fourth in the 138-pound weight class at the Region 4A-AA Wrestling Meet.

Hammond lost his opening round match to Nick Payne of Greenbrier in 4:41 by pin fall, but bounced back to defeat Ethan Steele of Cheatham County in 28 seconds and then clinch the spot in the state tournament with a 2:40 pin fall over Matthew Cox of Fairview. He then lost again in the seeding match for third to Payne.

Hammond finished the day 2-2 and is 13-6 overall for the season.
