BSB: Blackford Leads with Six RBIs in Battle of Devils

Caden Blackford wasted no opportunities at the plate on Tuesday, driving in six on three hits to lead the Blue Devils past Jo Byrns 17-13 on Tuesday. Blackford drove in runs on a single in the fourth, a double in the fifth, and a home run in the sixth.

White House improved to 3-2 overall with a trip to Portland on Wednesday coming.

There was plenty of action on the basepaths as the Blue Devils collected 13 hits and Jo Byrns had 12.

Jo Byrns got things moving in the first inning.

Jo Byrns evened things up at three in the bottom of the third inning when an error scored two runs for Jo Byrns.

White House pulled away for good with two runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Hunter Matherly doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run and Blackford singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.

The Blue Devils put up eight runs in the fifth inning.  Eric RogersMatherlyBlackfordZane Brown, and Rogers all drove in runs in the frame.

Jo Byrns scored four runs in the seventh inning. Jo Byrns’s big inning was driven by doubles by #15 and Liebengood and a single by Miller.

Kaiden Biggs was credited with the victory for White House. Biggs allowed four hits and four runs over two and a third innings, striking out six.  Riley Eaton and Rogers entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.  Rogers recorded the last out to earn the save for Blue Devils.

Lucas took the loss for Jo Byrns. Lucas went one-third of an inning, allowing eight runs on four hits and striking out one.

Cox started the game for Jo Byrns. The pitcher went four innings, allowing five runs on seven hits and striking out five Blackford started the game for the Blue Devils. The righty surrendered three runs on four hits over three innings, striking out four

White House tallied three home runs on the day. Rogers had a dinger in the fifth inning. Blackford went deep in the sixth inning. Tanner Carpenter went yard in the sixth inning.

The Blue Devils tallied 13 hits in the game.  BlackfordBrownSam AbshireRogers, and Matherlyeach had multiple hits for WHHS.  Blackford led the Blue Devils with three hits in four at bats.

Jo Byrns tallied 12 hits on the day.  Liebengood#6MillerHead, and Cox each managed multiple hits for Jo Byrns.
