BSB: Palmer Combines with Rogers for Second No-Hitter (Story and Photos)

By Kris Freeman for White House High School

WHITE HOUSE – Senior Dustin Palmer entered Tuesday night’s game with an impressive strikeout number and ERA for the season, but even better has been his ability to sit down the opponent without a hit.

For the second time in the last four starts, Palmer combined to throw a no-hitter, shutting down the Cheatham County Cubs 14-0 in five innings. Eric Rogers came in to get two strikeouts in a flawless fifth as Palmer exited the game. Against East Robertson, he combined with Zane Brown for his first no hitter of the year.

Palmer struck out 11 but walked four, as White House improved to 8-4 for the season and 4-2 in District 9-AA. The pitching wasn’t the only story, as the Blue Devils exploded for five runs in the first, eight runs in the second and then another in the bottom of the fourth.

Sam Abshire had three hits, with Hunter Matherly, Zane Brown, Tanner Carpenter, Caden Blackford and Matthew Sureda picking up two. Blackford drove in four runs, Kaiden Biggs and Matherly drove in two each. Sureda drove in a run and Bryson Todd pinch hit in the fourth and drove in Abshire, who scored all four times he reached base.

Abshire kicked off the lead off spot with three hits and a walk for a near perfect night at the plate.

Matherly, Blackford, Carpenter and Brown all scored two runs each.

White House heads to Christian Community School on Thursday at 4 p.m. The field and school is located at the Church at Grace Park.
