The Gallatin News, Hendersonville Standard and the Portland Sun, all under the Main Street Preps umbrella, is proud to announce the 2021 All-Sumner County baseball teams, recognizing standout performances from this season.
Gallatin senior Tanner Park is named Player of the Year, Beechās Chase Burns is Pitcher of the Year, Gallatinās Mark Wilson is Coach of the Year, Westmorelandās Landon Donoho Newcomer of the Year, Portlandās Chase Runyon is Freshman of the Year and Westmorelandās Ryker Hodge is Student-Athlete of the Year.
Park battled a healthy .414 at the plate this year, finished 4-2 as the Green Wave ace and tallied 11 extra base hits. He registered 29 RBI, 15 runs scored and a .480 on-base-percentage. Park was also named District 9-AAA MVP following his senior campaign.
Burns finished 6-0 this season, throwing 56 innings where he surrendered just 12 hits while striking out 131 batters. The University of Tennessee signee allowed opposing batters a .067 batting average and finished with a .497 ERA.
As a sophomore, Donoho finished with a .356 batting average, 31 hits and 26 runs scored in 87 plate appearances. He also earned First Team All-District 9AA honors for the Eagles.
Runyon held a .242 batting average for the Panthers this season and was a day-to-day player in the field for Justin Martin. The freshman shortstop added 22 hits, tallied 12 runs scored and registered eight RBI.
Hodge was a mainstay on the Westmoreland ball fields, playing three-sports during his senior season with the Eagles. A team captain, Hodge was also named Westmoreland High School Salutatorian where he maintained a 3.9 GPA.
Wilson was selected Coach of the Year by his peers. The Green Wave finished the season 20-11 and earned the two seed for their side of the District 9AAA bracket.
