White House students excel at Youth in Government

NASHVILLE – Students of Jessica Watson at White House High School were among over 500 participants from across Middle Tennessee at Youth in Government on February 24-27, at the Tennessee State Capitol.

White House senior Phoenix Caruthers won outstanding statesman and was chosen as an alternate to the Committee on National Affairs (CONA).

Senators and House members participate in the event by writing and debating legislation affecting the state. For the first time in school history, White House also sent press corps members to the event, who were responsible for interviewing members involved in the legislative process, writing articles and blogs, and taking photos of the action.

Senators from White House High School included Phoenix Caruthers and Amy Garmon. House of Representatives from White House High School included Bek Atwood, Jordan Green, Clementine Denton and Katie Hill. Press corps members were Maggie Chenoweth, Lorelei Caruthers and Lilly Urfer.
